Rex Boyd appears at first to be a normal guy talking about normal life in England. Normality soon gives way to the enthusiastic fervour of a street preacher and the manic physicality of a cross between Lee Evans and Jim Carrey culminating in an exciting, party-like atmosphere of improvisation, interaction and quite often thrillingly unpredictable responses.
Rex Boyd has been a professional entertainer since 1986. Originally from Kansas City, he first appeared on the British comedy and street performing circuits in 1988. He left Britain a year later to spend five years on the road performing at fringe festivals, street festivals, universities, and comedy clubs in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, and back in the United States.
In 1994 he returned to settle in London and developed his second show, "The New, Improved Adventures of Robin Hood". Put simply, Rex narrates and directs the story while three volunteers act it out on stage. But it's not that simple. It actually takes enormous amounts of confidence, experience, and ability to turn ordinary audience members into comedy legends. Rex Boyd consistently does just that!
"Imaginative visual comedy, innovative theatrical stunts, audience participation, andreally bad dance routines."
The Glee Club, Birmingham
"Breathtaking originality and divine, laugh a minute ridicule. Undoubtedly the funniest thing you will clap eyes on at a comedy club this year."
Jester's Comedy Club, Bristol
"The multi-talented Rex Boyd has created the most unique show on today's comedy circuit."
The Guardian
"With style and energy, Rex Boyd can bombard any room into a hilarious state of frenzy, making him a brilliant crowd pleaser and a slicker-than-slick stand up,"
Jon Reed, The Other Side Comedy Clubs.
"It's a refreshing change to see an act that dares to be so different from peoples expectations, truly breaking the proverbial mould and doing it with such style and confidence that only the most humourless among us could possibly be left unimpressed."
Simon Kimber, Funny.co.uk.
“This is the second time he has been here in six months and still utterly brilliant. I think you could watch this act over and over again and still find it funny. He is definitely in the top 5 funniest acts who have ever appeared at this club - I had members of the audience saying this to me afterwards as well.”
Martin Mullaney, Cheeky Monkey Comedy Club.
